Artist Bio:

TON is an experimental studio and sound design project from Berlin.

The project started with analog noise, signals and electricity from an RE−501, the last child of Roland’s dynasty of electro−mechanical effect processors, running through the mixing desk during a sample studio session and evolving over time a more post−punk influenced and organic sound.

Originally planned from Julien Siemann as an electronic and sample project, TON has emerged into an experimental sound design project with more people participating in different positions and times − Vincent Wedel (Mixing & Guitars), Lizz (Vocals), and Karen Dhios (Vocals, Vocal Production, Mixing & Recording).
Without their ideas, participation and creativity ‚Rooms‘ wouldn’t sound that various and be that project. For ‚Rooms‘, TON are working together on a collaboration and feature basis. The project is constantly in transition – as are the songs.

EP Blurb:

TON release their debut EP ‚Rooms‘ on 17th January 2025, on a limited edition vinyl as well as digitally.
The EP includes the singles ‚Movement‘ and ‚The Night‘.

The EP manages to merge Post−Punk and Noise (Rock), Dark Wave, Doom, Industrial and Electronic Music, creating a wide scenery of sounds on ‚Rooms‘.
All the notes guide the listener through a concept of sonic spaces, each forming its own auditory identity and experience.
The project commununicates the change of connotation, meaning, expression and perception through the recontextualisation, staging and alienation of a note, a genre or a sequence. This idea first took place by means of temporal deformation of a sound on tape recorders − TON’s contemporary tool is the DAW and sound design. The computer and the studio are equally played instruments like guitar and drums. On ‚Rooms‘, TON creates an uncanny, sometimes monotonous, sometimes complex environment, which constantly changes and crossing genres through its arrangements and production.
